It's true that design isn't just how something looks, it's how it works. At the same time, a product communicates to its audience how it works and is intended to be used almost entirely by its execution of visual design.

Visuals don't just bring interaction design to life, they make a product real and make it shine. (Is it any wonder visual design so often scrutinized?) Our kind of people obsess over details and editing. Together, we celebrate finesse and refinement.

You:

• Have an extremely strong visual sensibility. Good taste and keen aesthetic intuitions are crucial.
• Understand the delicate interpretation of UX and IA objectives into delightful visual designs and thoughtful, elegant experiences.
• Can balance a data-driven design process with strong gut and experience-based decision making.
• Can wear many hats and execute concepts through various stages.
• Know how to edit, and have minimalist tendencies. You're totally unafraid to challenge design assumptions — especially your own.
• Are obsessed with using products. Have an eye for what works, what doesn't, and what's overhyped.
• Have a mastery of current visual design best practices, principles, and patterns, as well as an acute awareness of what is possible with current technologies.
• Will be working directly with product leaders and a crack engineering team to precisely execute your vision. Because that's how we do.
• May have strong front-end development / rapid prototyping skills (HTML / CSS / JS / jQuery, etc.), which are a plus, but not necessarily required.

For those that can't tell the difference between Helvetica and Arial (let alone why Helvetica Neue Light is a silly typeface for a mobile OS), or only think of visual design in terms of flat vs. skeuomorphic, this probably isn't the right fit.
