It's never easy being the one to agonize over the tough decisions on high-stakes applications running at massive scale. But it's a big job, and someone's got to do it — and really well, otherwise we're all screwed, right?
We're looking for a strong technical leader with experience in creating highly available, massively scalable applications. You should have the vision to construct not just great systems, but also the tools (both internal and external), environments, and processes for disparate teams in a large, dynamic company to build on and into your platform.
We'll be doing nothing short of redefining online media, so you'll also need the sheer will to bring it all to reality.
You:
- Are a strong technical manager with experience in leading teams to the gates of hell — but making it back out alive. No big.
- Know what it takes to rally teams around your ideas and nimbly execute.
- Don't break into cold sweats when being faced with serious, deep CS challenges. You love finding solutions to complex problems and putting them to work in a way that won't fall over. Ever.
- You are unfazed by words like terabytes and billions when discussing scale.
- Care deeply about great product experiences. You fight for the user, even while balancing the need to ship early and often.
- Get up in the morning to define and launch inspiring, delightful products.
- May have been described as anal-retentive. Details matter. A lot.
- Are, if absolutely nothing else, an excellent communicator. Despite being the person who's constantly telling people what you need from them, your team still loves working with you.
- Ideally have a clear, informed vision for the intersection of media and technology.
- Are passionate about constantly learning new things and evolving.
